Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!
We had a lovely day, cooking and laughing with great friends. Though our contribution to the food left a bit to be desired. Gluey mashed potatoes will go down with enough gravy, but only if the gravy isn't lumpy and coagulated (we really could have used instant for both and had better flavor). Martha Stewart's wine and butter turkey was just okay this year. And considering how much time and fat goes into the whole thing, next year we are definitely having green chile instead.

I just love getting shots of Charlotte like this--we'll be able to show her just what her contribution to the family was on such an occasion - the crazy clown/crab. She wasn't that bad; we caught this shot right before nap time.

The girls had a great time with Brandy and Jeff who came for the fun and hopefully not the food...Charlotte warmed up to Jeff who flew both of them around the living room a few times. Goody and Alison came for dessert and brought their dog, Maggie, which was the highlight. The girls chased that dog around the house, took her downstairs, tried to get her to do a puzzle. It was hilarious to hear Charlotte calling her, "Mah-gee, Mah-gee!" and then squealing when Maggie would come right up and give her a kiss. I tried to get a picture, but that's virtually impossible - a dog and a 20 month-old and a 4-year-old who'd had far more chocolate than 4-year-olds should.

In all it was a great holiday and we got a few ideas for next year's feast--starting with, Time the boiling potatoes.

Wonderful pictures! So sorry your potatoes and gravy were not the best. As "easy" and basic as the meal is suposed to be it really does take some practice. Hence, the many cooking shows and recipes for the Thanksgiving dinner. So what was for dessert?
We did have a nice day. Angela's parents joined us as Angela's sister is in New Zealand and they would have been alone. It was fun.
Talk to you soon about other details.
Love, Gma DD
