Easter Reflections

The classic Easter poses
Ariel got an Easter dress (Little House on the Prairie style) in Ellie's Easter basket.
Belle got an Easter dress, too. Yes, I did spend 3 hours making those.

Easter morning fun for us this year was all by our lonesome. We woke up to cold and icy roads so the trip down to the 8:30AM service at the Pikes Peak Center was a little slippery. We made it though! Charlotte went to the makeshift nursery just fine and then Ellie, Daddy and Mommy got to sit in box seats for the big service. The choir was beautiful but it wasn't as warm and happy as when it's in our lovely sanctuary with the stained glass windows. And they definitely needed to bloom the cross that was sadly hanging there all drab in white paper. The special kids bulletin let the kids draw three kinds of "hearts"--a sad heart, a slow heart, and a burning heart. When the pastor asked, "Is your heart burning for Jesus?" Ellie shouted out, "MINE isn't!" To which we quickly replied, "It means, do you really love Jesus a lot?" She thought about this and said, "He doesn't know anything!" Those darn figures of speech.

The experience in church reminded us of driving together in the car a while back when Ellie spotted a small cross on the steeple of a church and pointed out, "Hey, that cross is small enough for Charlotte to die on!" We're not sure what kind of theology that is, but it's certainly not biblical. At least we don't think.

Grandma DeDe reminded me that last year for Easter service Ellie shouted out in the middle of a prayer, "WHO DIED?!" Oh, great. The former pastor's granddaughter doesn't know the Easter story....
